1.5  Design
1.5.1  Corner radii The inside corners of the bowl at the junctions of the sides with each other and the junctions of the sides with the bottom shall be curved with a radius of not less than 5 mm. Any other internal radii shall not be less than 3 mm. 1.5.2  Flashings Flashings shall permit installation in accordance with AS 3740. An inset basin not integral with a bench top shall have an integral rim capable of being sealed to the bench top. The seal shall be waterproof. 1.5.3  Drainage The bottom of the washbasin shall have a continuous fall to the waste outlet hole. Soap recesses and rims shall have a continuous fall to the inside of the basin. Textured and profile surfaces are permitted; however, where textured or profiled surfaces are incorporated, drainage shall be unaffected.1.5.4  Integral water seal traps The depth of water seal shall be 75 5 35 − + mm. For waterway sizings, see AS 1589. 1.5.5  Waste outlet The waste outlet hole shall incorporate a flange recess that allows the installation of a waste fitting conforming with AS 1589 or AS 2887 such that the fitting permits the drainage of the basin. 1.5.6  Support and rigidity The washbasin shall provide for a means of secure support ensuring that when it is installed, no load is placed on the waste pipe or water connections. Support structures, fixings, fasteners, and stiffeners, where provided, shall have a life not less than that of the washbasin. Washbasins which do not have a separate support structure shall be self-supporting, either from the base or from the flange as appropriate to the type of installation. 1.6  Washbasin strength and support test With the exception of wall basins (see Clause 1.7), all washbasins when installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions in the designed manner and filled to maximum capacity with water and with a 30 0 1 + kg mass placed or hung on the middle of the front edge of the washbasin, shall, after a period of 2 min, show no sign of fracture, leakage or deformation greater than 5 mm. With the load removed, there shall be no permanent deformation greater than 1 mm and the washbasin shall show no signs of cracks, fracture or leakage.
